![]() And that we know, that this depends on, how the damp paper was put into the printing press, either along the fibbers, or opposite of their direction. I wrote, that we also know, that the catalogues and the "Monograph part 1" state their sizes to: Narrow size: 173,5 mm x 286 mm Wide size: 174,5 mm x 284 mm But we also know, quotation ing. Pavel Pittermann:
"The sizes stated in catalogues
are only orient sizes, and as far as I know, nobody until now did had
at one's at his disposal to so many sheets to make a representative statistics".
But there are so many sheets with varying
size, that you can never be sure if it has been cut!
So, how to know if the sheet is of "Narrow
size" or "Wide size"?
In April 2003 I received an unexpected
help!
Philatelic expert, and editor of Czechoslovakian post stamps catalogues, Dr. František Beneš, sent me a mail.
In this mail he added his annotations
about the sizes of the "KDM? 1934" sheets!
With different sizes of the printings, sizes of the sheets and sizes of the stamps. At the same time he added a scan of KDM sheets, with the measure method, which he received after an old German collector.
But the most important is the text in his
mail:
"The size of the sheet, is not
important when you divide the sheets in narrow or wide size, because you
can never be sure if it has been cut.
But the "Size of the printing" always has the original size, and has a straight connection with the size of the sheet".
The scan, which dr. Beneš add in his
mail, take it as directions for use, how to measure your sheets.
It's important, that all of you use the
same method.
This is the actual situation, how far our
research has come, till today, 2003 05 06 after maximally amount of
"KDM? 1934" sheets.
Please, help me to increase our
research!
If you own KDM sheets, please send me by mail their size. peter.hoffmann@swipnet.se
All information will be presented on my
web site.
In this way we can build up representative statistics, for future help to future collectors.
Please use an exact ruler, and measure by
the tenth of mm.
The measure method is:
Width of the printing: from leaf to
leaf + width of the sheet (paper).
Height of the printing: from note to
note + height of the sheet (paper).
Also, four measure result, per sheet.
