once a decade U.S. international exhibition is scheduled for May 27- June
3, 2006. The
latest newsletter-style update contains four pages of information As
of mid-March, 242 collectors had joined Washington 2006 becoming
"members" at various contributory levels.
Since then, a total of 330 individuals and societies have signed
on, many of them at the recent NAPEX stamp show.
Contributions and pledges to date are just shy of $300,000. Memberships
start at $25 and come with an assortment of benefits. The first in a series of souvenir cards has already been sent
to individual members and is pictured in the update.
Just a handful remain for new members on a first-come basis.
Society memberships will be entitled to different premiums than
those of individuals. More
than 120 firms from 11 countries are represented in the dealer's The
brand new Washington, DC Convention Center, host facility for Washington
2006, has just opened to rave reviews.
GES Exposition Services of Washington, DC has been selected as the
chief decorators for the show. Other
topics covered in Update 3 include planned youth area activities, the
upcoming membership meeting scheduled during Stampshow in Columbus on
August 9, a request to borrow exhibit frames from east coast stamp clubs,
and an article on new Smithsonian Institution attractions which will be
