Advisory and expert service at the fair Collector Prague

At the trade fair Collector (10–12 September), an advisory and expert service will be available to visitors free of charge as usual. This year visitors will once again be able to have their philatelic materials examined at the stand of the Union of Czech Philatelists, their minerals, at the stand of the firm Mineral & Gem Collection, telephone cards, by Ing. Robert Chaloupka, and their coins and banknotes, at the  Czech Numismatic Society. Last year, for example, 160 visitors came for advice in the field of numismatics. They mainly brought coins, but also decorations, awards and bank notes. Most of it was regular material, but one visitor went away highly satisfied when he learnt the value of a two-ducat Albrecht of Waldstein coin  from 1627...

What the Curiosity Collectors Club has prepared

At the trade fair, the Curiosity Collectors Club regularly presents the interesting collections of its members. This year will be no different. On Friday, visitors will be able to admire the fans of Dagmar Klingerová, the scales and pocket knives of Jiří Krblich, the glass dog figures of Soňa Krpcová, the car licence plates of Pavel Vosyka, the musical instruments of Zdeňek Znamenáček, and the illustrations of Zdek Burian from the collection of František Žváček. On Saturday there will be a presentation by the Autograph Collectors Club, and the Czech Philumenic Association will be exhibiting on Sunday. Throughout the entire period of the trade fair, a 1922 Praga taxi from the Museum of Emil Příhoda will be exhibited on a stand.

Other new exhibitors

Other interesting exhibitors enrolled for the trade fair after the closing date for applications. Taken at random, we might mention the French Post and the firms Trinoga Briefmarken, Zwirello Briefmarken, Briefmarken Finger, Zika-Album, Baltic Amber and many others. Fortunately, the trade fair will be held this year in the left wing of the Industrial Palace at the Exhibition Grounds in Prague 7-Holešovice, which has an area of more than 4700 m2.

What exhibitors are preparing for visitors

Many exhibitors are preparing smaller or larger surprises for visitors. We have already learned that special postmarks or postcards will be available at the stands of post offices from Switzerland, Cyprus, Belarus, Portugal, Austria, Turkey  and the Postal Administration of the UN (UNPA) as well as, naturally, the Czech Post. At the stand of the Czech Post, a postmark specially issued for the trade fair will be available, as will be a category A postcard and R-sticker, and on Sunday, when UN Day will be declared at the trade fair, a special postmark for this day will be available. For the entire trade fair, visitors will be able to have their own personalised stamps made. But numismatic firms and mints will not be found wanting either. In addition to the traditional competitions at the stand of the firm Schoeller Münzhandel, this year there will be surprises, for example, at the stand of the Mint Kremnica or the firm MDS Münzlogistik.

Russian magazin on our fair

A new magazine for collectors of telephone cards PRO KARTY set to issue in Sankt Petersburg. It is published by long-time exhibitors at the fair Collector Mr.Yevgeniy Nikiforov. The second issue of the magazine is dedicated also to our fair in Prague.

Collection o H. A. Dietiker up for auction

The Stuttgart firm Auktionen Meister & Sonntag is preparing a treat for the auction market; it is planning to auction the collection of Hans Alfred Dietiker, author of the work Böhmen – Katalog der Habsburger Münzen (1527–1887). The collection lay in a bank vault for fifteen years and was entrusted to the care of the Numismatic Cabinet in Winterthur for ten years. The family has now decided to put it up for auction. The auction catalogues will be presented to the public for the first time at the trade fair Collector.

Antiquariat trade fair for the first time

This year, a new project will be premiering at the same time as the trade fair Collector at the Prague Exhibition Grounds – the trade fair Antiquariat. In its way, it will be a suitable accompaniment to the trade fair Collector, because the customers for books, graphics and old printed works are often the same as for collecting. Antiquariat will have a modest beginning – in the same way as Collector  seven years ago – but it is to be assumed that in the coming years it will grow in the manner of its older brother. In spite of this, many second-hand book sellers from the Czech Republic will exhibit this year, as will second-hand book sellers from the USA or firms from Germany. The entry tickets to the trade fair Antiquariat will be valid for the Collector trade fair and vice versa. Entry will be free for people up to the age of 18 and women.
